What fun! Meteor™ Yellow is a big, double Coneflower that continues to grow new petals even after it opens, creating a new look almost every day throughout its bloomtime! You will love watching it turn from a single daisy into a double pompon, with a subtle sweet scent that you will notice especially when the blooms are displayed in indoor arrangements.
The outer petals are bright yellow and held out and down, in the classic style of Echinacea blooms. A golden center holds them together, but within a day or two of opening, that center sports new little yellow petals, upright and tiny. Just a few days later, the new petals have multiplied and grown, and before you know it, goodbye center, yellow layers of sunny color! The experts call this flower form “anemone” — we call it amazing!
Meteor™ Yellow boasts exceptionally good branching, which means even more blooms. The strong, upright stalks resist wind and rain with no need for staking, and help the flowers last a long time in the vase as well as on the plant. Expect butterflies and bees to visit the blooms frequently, increasing the color show.
A robust cultivar of the native Coneflower, Meteor™ Yellow is exceptionally easy to care for, resisting heat, drought, and other weather without a care. Give it plenty of sunshine and well-drained soil, water it well the first season, and it will become one of the most dependable and lowest maintenance perennials in the border. Deer tend to leave this plant alone, so you can expect a full season of beauty every year. Zones 4 to 10.
