This mix is perfectly named, for there has never been a Larkspur blend as romantic and lovely as these pastel shades of blue, pink, rose, lilac, and white. Lovers’ Mix is free-flowering and quick to grow, bringing you spring joy in the form of tall, elegant blooms for the sunny garden and the vase!
Best in cool and mild climates, Lovers’ Mix arises in just over 2 months from seed, with nice branching and plenty of side-shoots that bring you smaller but more profuse flowers. The main stems easily reach 30 to 40 inches, packed with soft color in all the classic Delphinium shades. What heaven to arrange them into a big bouquet!
Direct-sow this seed in early spring, covering it well. Lovers’ Mix is a spring bloomer in full sunshine and rich, well-drained soil. A great “barnyard” plant — Hollyhock and Hardy Garden Phlox are similarly heavy feeders in full sun — it should be planted in great drifts for stunning washes of color, as well as in the cutting garden.
