100 days. Probably the most beautiful — and unusual — watermelon ever grown, this heirloom is also one of the sweetest! Most of the fruit is 25 to 30 pounds, but the occasional over-achiever balloons up to 50, protecting the succulent juiciness of its bright red flesh with a deeply-ridged, very thick rind!
The rind is the most interesting aspect of Moon and Stars. It is very dark green, liberally spotted with bright yellow and boasting the occasional larger, moon-shaped blotch of the same color. The foliage bears the same markings! No two melons are just alike, making this crop a delight with each new fruit.
Heirloom lovers and watermelon addicts alike will love Moon and Stars. It is ultra-sweet, succulent, and delectable, with a rind as attractive as the flesh is delicious!
Sow direct when the soil is warm and all danger of frost is past. Sow the seeds in raised hills or rows 3 inches high. Thin to 3 plants per hill 3 feet apart, or 1 plant per foot in rows. For earlier fruit, seeds may be started indoors. Pkt is 25 seeds.
