Winner of the Retail Choice Award at Cultivate 2024, Cherry Blast tomato is an early-mid season variety that has a well-branched, trailing habit-perfect for containers, hanging baskets, and small-space gardens-and an upgraded disease package with proven resistance to Tomato Mosaic Virus and a high tolerance to late blight. A heavy fruiter, Cherry Blast sets high yields of bright red cherry-sized tomatoes all summer long. Homegrown tomatoes are in a taste class of their own, and cherry tomatoes are some of the sweetest. They are best eaten fresh off the vine, as snacks or additions to salads. Considered a superfood, tomatoes are nutrient rich, having a high micronutrient-per-calorie density. They are a good source of vitamin C and provide vitamin A and potassium.
A Lycopersicon esculentum, commonly called tomato, Cherry Blast is a member of the nightshade family (Solanaceae), which contains plants that typically grow in temperate to tropical regions, but Cherry Blast is widely adapted. The compact plant grows to a mature size of about 6 inches high and 22 inches wide but still produces excellent yields.
