Sweet Summer Love comes to us from noted Polish breeder Szczepan Marczynski, and is a Group III variety for pruning purposes: late-blooming and easy to care for! It flowers only on new growth, so in late winter or early spring you will want to cut it back to about knee height. This will not only assure you of plentiful blooms, but will cause this climber to be more lush and full than it was the previous year. The joy of Clematis is that, if given the proper pruning, it improves with each passing season!

If you are new to Clematis, you are in for a wonderful treat. Though slow to establish, once they are content, they take off magnificently. For best results, make sure their tops (the aboveground growth) are in sun and their bottoms (the roots) are in shade.
