These bright lilac-purple bulbs have a slightly flattened shape and bright purple stems, which rise up and out of all sides of the bulb to protect the fruit with enormous purple-veined blue leaves. Kohlrabi is not usually considered a very ornamental crop, but Azur Star could be admired front and center of the vegetable patch, so lovely and abundant are these icy blue leaves with contrasting purple accents!
But the most important part of any vegetable is its flavor, and Azur Star takes top honors here as well, with absolutely delectable flesh. Raw or cooked, it is superb eating.
