Extra-large pansies with excellent overwintering
Days to Maturity: 84
Majestic Giants ll Autumn Mix Pansy contains Viola x wittrockiana varieties, commonly called pansies or garden pansies. Cool-season favorites, these short-lived evergreen perennials are often grown as annuals. They bloom in spring and may also bloom in autumn and winter (regional). In spring, they typically bloom as spring-flowering bulbs begin to fade. The velvety flowers are brilliantly colored in clear shades of purple, yellow, and a bicolor red and yellow with a dark blotch. They attract pollinators, especially butterflies. The flowers are edible and make excellent pressed flowers for crafts.
Majestic Giants ll Autumn Mix Pansy varieties have a low, bushy, mounding habit and superior lateral branching, perfect for containers, and window boxes. Shown to best effect when mass planted in the garden, pansies are a nice size for border fronts, and they make effective edging and ground cover.
The most popular garden flowers for generations, one of the easiest to grow, pansies prefer full sun (about 6 hours) to partial sun and humus-rich, evenly moist, well-draining soils. In spring, planting in partial shade may extend the bloom time, but too much shade will reduce flowering and create spindly stems. Pansies are frost tolerant and deer resistant. Weed beds and water regularly. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage and prolong flowering.
Pansy seeds can be started indoors 12 to 14 weeks before the last frost date and transplanted into the garden in early spring. In fall, plant as early as possible, at least 6 weeks before the first frost date. The ideal temperature range for growing pansies is from about 55°F at night and 60° to 65°F during the day.

hese would be. I planted them NE side of house in raised bed on drip irrigation, in a terracotta pot, in flower beds (N and West side of home). They are great everywhere you stick 'em
but are best in groupings in front row or near front of beds. I have them in front of boxwoods, daylilies and connifers. Great to share with friends for their gardens. I will be trying more varieties for 2024.
