You can make the slaw of your dreams, the soup of legend, or any of your favorite dishes triple tasty with this blend of 3 premium Cabbage varieties! All 3 mature at the same time, giving you a mix-and-match selection of super eating!
Park’s All-Purpose Blend contains a traditional green, a dark red, and a dark green crinkled-leaf (“savoy”) type. Here’s exactly what you’ll grow:
The green is a very sweet, densely wrapped head, weighing about 3 to 5 pounds with good wrapper leaves to protect against sunburn. Tolerant of thrips and tip burn and resistant to yellows, it has excellent holding ability, so don’t feel you have to harvest all these scrumptious heads at once!
The red is a somewhat flat, 3- to 4-pound head with great wrapper-leaf protection. It heads very quickly, then holds beautifully in the garden. Tolerant of thrips and tip burn, it is reliable and super yummy!
The savoy is a dark green, deeply crinkled head weighing 2 to 3 pounds. It is tolerant of tip burn and resistant to yellows, but its best features are its flavor and its terrific savoy texture!
This blend is ideal for spring or fall crops, because the varieties have good sun protection (as spring becomes early summer!) and don’t mind a little frost (as fall becomes early winter!). They like full sun and moist, well-drained soil. For spring crops, start the seeds indoors 5 weeks before setting out, which you should do as soon as the soil can be worked. Plant the young seedlings about 18 inches apart for good coverage without crowding. For fall crops, sow the seeds directly into the garden 10 to 12 weeks before the first frost date for your area. Pkt is 50 seeds, which will sow about 12 feet of row.
