Extra early blooming and extremely free flowering
Days to Maturity: 98
FlashForwardâ„¢ Pink Petunia, a miniature flowering, spreading variety, is a tender perennial (Zones 10-11), typically grown as an annual, offering spring through summer interest, often blooming until the first frost in autumn. FlashForward varieties have less day length sensitivity, providing extra early flowering, even under short day conditions. Extremely free flowering, this petunia sets showy pink blooms. The flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
FlashForward Pink Petunia has a tidy, compact habit and fast growth rate but won’t overgrow companions in mixed containers. It’s perfect for window boxes and hanging baskets but makes great edging or ground cover in small-space garden beds and borders. Planted alongside perennials and vegetables, petunias repel asparagus beetles, leafhoppers, tomato worms, a range of aphids, and many other pests.
FlashForward Pink Petunia grows best in locations with full sun to light shade and average, medium moist, well-draining soil. It tolerates difficult garden and weather conditions. Although petunias are low maintenance plants, pinching off the tops of established plants results in bushier plants with a heavier bloom, and deadheading regularly encourages and prolongs flowering. Cutting back plants that have declined in summer heat promotes a later bloom as temperatures cool.
Growing petunias from seed is easy. Direct sow petunia seed after the last frost as soon as the soil is warm in spring or start seeds indoors 9 to 10 weeks before the last frost date and transplant after all threat of frost has passed.
If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.
This seed comes as a pellet. Pelleted seeds are small seeds that have been clay-coated to make them larger and more uniform in size and shape, making them easier to handle when planting.
