Red Cloud comes from the same breeding line as the classic beet Red Ace, but is improved in both flavor and garden performance! The roots are smooth, round, and glossy, with a dark red sheen that hints at the rich flavor within.
Extremely high sugar content makes Red Cloud one of the most flavorful beets you can find, and the improved top strength makes it easy to harvest and very robust in the garden! Harvest it young for baby beets, or let it mature to full size (the bright red globes reach about 3 inches in diameter) for scrumptious fresh eating, canning, or freezing. And don’t forget to harvest a few beet tops now and again for delicious, highly nutritious greens!
Beets are a cool-weather crop, direct-sown in fall or as soon as soil can be worked in spring. Before planting, make sure that the soil is as loose, rich, and well-drained as possible, so that the root can grow without stress. Pkt is 200 seeds, which sows 10 feet of row.
