Sugar Sprint starts producing extra-early and just keeps on coming, bearing a lengthy, heavy harvest! Lasting longer on the vine than most, its stringless, 3-inch ultra-sweet pods arise two per node — it’s like getting an extra pod with every fruit! And this snap pea is suitable for fall crops as well as spring!
The 26-inch plants demonstrate great heat tolerance, making them a fine choice for spring and fall crops. They are resistant to Powdery Mildew and tolerant of Pea Enation Mosaic Virus, so you always get a big harvest from trouble-free plants.
Be sure to plow under this entire plant after harvesting its big crop of peas. Sugar Sprint is a legume, so it will help fix nitrogen in the soil. You will see the results of this next season in your garden, when your soil is more loamy, rich, and healthy than ever!
Easy to grow, peas love cold weather, so plant as soon as the soil can be worked in the spring. Direct-sow 1 to 2 inches apart and 1 to 1½ inches deep. Peas are also ideal as a fall crop started in late summer. To conserve space and simplify harvesting, sow in double rows with a trellis between rows.
